Gas Turbine Air Filters for Power Plants & FPSOs in Ghana

Inlet filtration matched to Ghana’s dust, salt and humidity, to protect compressor health and output.

We supply Camfil air inlet filters for gas turbines at power plants and on FPSOs across Ghana. The right filter comes down to how much dust, salt and moisture your site deals with, and we specify it using the ISO 29461-1 classes, T5 to T13.

Why does gas turbine inlet filtration matter?

A gas turbine draws in huge volumes of air, and whatever passes the filters reaches the compressor. Particles foul the blades and reduce output and efficiency. Salt can drive corrosion. Filters that clog too quickly raise pressure drop, which also costs power. Good filtration is a balance between protection and resistance.

How do conditions in Ghana affect filter choice?

ConditionWhere you see itWhat it means for filtration
Heavy seasonal dustHarmattan, especially inland and at dry sitesHigh dust-holding capacity. Pulse-cleaned cartridges can suit very dusty sites
Salt and humidityCoastal plants such as Aboadze and Tema, and offshoreMoisture handling and salt removal, usually with static multi-stage systems
Heavy rainCoastal and southern sites in the rainy seasonsWater management, so wet filters do not spike pressure drop or release salts

What are the ISO 29461-1 gas turbine filter classes?

ISO 29461-1 is the international standard for turbomachinery air inlet filters. These are the classes as published by Camfil:

ClassTested toEfficiency requirement
T5ISO 16890ePM10 ≥ 50%
T6ISO 16890ePM2.5,min ≥ 50%
T7ISO 16890ePM1,min ≥ 50%
T8ISO 16890ePM1,min ≥ 70%
T9ISO 16890ePM1,min ≥ 85%
T10ISO 29463≥ 85% at MPPS
T11ISO 29463≥ 95% at MPPS
T12ISO 29463≥ 99.5% at MPPS
T13ISO 29463≥ 99.95% at MPPS

Which Camfil gas turbine filters are available?

Camfil’s turbomachinery range includes CamGT compact filters, designed for water handling, salt removal and low operating pressure drop, CamClose pleated panel pre-filters, Cam-Flo bag filters and TurboPulse pulse-cleaned cartridges. Tell us your filter house model and current filters, and we will confirm the right option and availability.

Frequently asked questions

Your turbine and filter house details, the current filters and sizes, the location, operating pressure drop limits and your change-out schedule.

Yes. Air filtration for turbomachinery on FPSO vessels is one of our core applications.

Change them based on pressure drop and condition, not only on the calendar. Follow your OEM limits, since dust and humidity vary widely between sites and seasons.
