We supply Camfil air purifiers and air cleaners in Ghana. These are stand-alone units that clean the air in a room, so they’re useful when you can’t upgrade the ventilation system, or when Harmattan dust keeps getting indoors.

What is the difference between an air purifier and an air cleaner?
The terms overlap. In general, an air purifier is a smaller unit for rooms such as offices, classrooms and homes, while an air cleaner is a larger cabinet for bigger or industrial spaces. Camfil’s range includes the City M air purifier and the CC1700 and CC2500 air cleaners. The CC1700 can be configured with HEPA filters, molecular filters or both.
How do you choose the right unit?
- Room size: match the clean air delivery to the volume of the room.
- Pollutant: HEPA for particles, molecular media for gases and odours.
- Noise: especially in offices, classrooms and hotel rooms.
- Running costs: the price and availability of replacement filters.
Do air purifiers help during the Harmattan?
They can help, provided windows and doors stay closed and the unit is properly sized. Average PM2.5 in Accra was measured at 89 µg/m³ during the Harmattan, well above the WHO’s 24-hour guideline of 15 µg/m³. A sealed room with a correctly sized HEPA purifier can bring indoor levels well below what is outside.
